Join artist Debbie Mueller for a focused two-day workshop designed for painters who understand the fundamentals of value, color mixing, and paint application. Through a clear step-by-step approach, Debbie will guide students in developing confident, well-structured paintings without feeling overwhelmed by the process.
Day 1 introduces the essential early stages of a still life painting—idea, design, drawing, and value—followed by hands-on painting with individualized support. After lunch, students explore color mixing, brushwork, and edges, applying each concept directly to their work.
Day 2 begins with a live demonstration that reinforces the full painting sequence, offering students the opportunity to see the method in action. The remainder of the workshop includes guided studio time and a brief presentation highlighting inspiring works by other artists. Participants can expect to complete two paintings over the course of the weekend.
Though taught through still life, the principles presented are applicable to all subjects, including landscape, portraiture, and interior scenes. This workshop is primarily designed for oil painters, with acrylic and gouache welcome.
