Ceramic Membership

Ceramic Membership | Monthly fee $65 per student | Ages 18 and up

 

A Ceramic Membership is a perfect fit for any student needing more time in the studio or exploring clay practices. The membership is meant for independent practice in the ceramic studio – no instruction or material is included with this membership. Previous knowledge of clay practices is required, as well as a commitment to maintain the rules and regulations of Quinlan’s Ceramic Studio. To be eligible for membership, you MUST have taken at least ONE ceramics session at the Quinlan, in the past two years.

 

Benefits of the Ceramic Membership

- Access to Ceramic’s studio during gallery hours (Monday-Friday from 9:15am to 4:45pm; Saturday 10:15am to 3:45pm) or while any pottery class is in session (pending availability and studio space).

- Load and unloading of all your pieces, including bisque and glaze.

- Usage of glazes.

- Use a professional slab roller as well as any hand-building equipment.

- 10% discount on ceramic classes by Lesther Martin’s only. Discount will be available beginning in the 2nd month of membership.

- Purchase of clay from the Quinlan (subject to availability). $20 per bag of clay.

 

What do I have to pay for in the studio?

- Almost any tool needed for independent practice is provided by the Quinlan Ceramic Studio. Membership includes glazes, firings, wheels, and hand-building tools.

- Clay must be purchased from Quinlan’s Art Center (subject to availability). $20 per bag of clay. We do not accept non-QVAC clay bodies for firing in the studio.

- Glazes from outside are admitted; however, members will be liable for any damage to QVAC kiln equipment. The minimum payment for repairs or equipment is $50. Full cost of damage will be incurred by member.

 

How do I cancel my membership?

Members can cancel however, QVAC requires a thirty-day (30) notice for any membership cancellations. Cancellations must be made in written form (email OR letter). Please note that it is the responsibility of the member to clean shelves of any materials, clay, glazes, and any personal belongings before cancelation or expiration of membership. Any clay, glaze, tools, pieces, and personal belongings left will become the property of QVAC. All emails for cancellation must be sent to Info@QVAC.org. Letters must be mailed to Quinlan Visual Arts Center, 514 Green Street NE, Gainesville, GA 30501.

 

Studio rules and expectations

- Please leave all surfaces clean and in good condition.

- Report any damage to tools or equipment IMMEDIATELY.

- Respect the space and work of others.

- When a class is in session, please respect the teacher and other students. Classes take priority. A class schedule can be found on QVAC.org

- Leave slab-roller, tables, and wheels clean and free of tools.

- Leave tools clean and put away.

- Leave sink free of clay debris, tools, buckets, and sponges.

 

Kiln Firing Schedule

Our Kilns are electric and fire up to Cone 6. The kiln firing schedule depends on demand. Kilns are usually fired on a 2-week cycle. Please be mindful of the schedule if you are working on a timetable. Class firings will take priority.
